At the end of the 20th century cities make themselves up for a competitive fight. It is, even in historical Europe, no longer enough to count on natural resources which gave cities an age-long viability. New interventions and possibilities concerning the infrastructure will influence the map of Europe decisive. Amsterdam has its historical centre and is cultural activities. To survive as a real city, meaning as a city that does not exploits itself purely on its past, it is essentially to extend these identifiers strategically.
