Stockholm University of the Arts

Stockholm School of the Arts is scattered throughout the city, with departments clustered in three different locations. The aim of the project is to bring together its many activities under one roof and let its 500 students and 400 performances per year create a new gathering place of culture in Stockholm. Slakthusomradet is a district that has been spared from the restrictions of Stockholm's conservative planning, making it the ideal platform for such an entity. Here, the pragmatism of industrial production – and later the production of spectacle – has generated refreshing urban forms out of the logic of the activities they host.
