‘LA CINTA’ – Paysandú Coastal Masterplan
Located on the Uruguay River on the border of Argentina, Paysandú is a city bound by nature on three sides: two swaths of wetlands to its north and south, and the riverfront to the west. Its rich waterfront ecology has been predominantly untouched and protected. The city’s strategic location made it a nexus for trade, contributing to economic stability and an industrial city center and port that has hosted international expositions and exhibitions. Subject to periodic flooding from the river, historic remnants of the port area lie either in disuse or disconnected from the public, like the city’s natural landscapes.
